<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a punching press machine which is excellent in the accuracy and quality of a cut surface of a portion to be punched and which makes residual stress small. <P>SOLUTION: A punching apparatus includes: a guide frame 10; a linear motor 15 which is installed in the guide frame 10, which has an acceleration section from an upper dead point to a punching point and a deceleration section from the punching point to a lower dead point, and which reciprocates in a movement section between the upper and lower dead points; a head unit 25 which holds a punching mold 25f in a lower portion, which is connected to the linear motor 15, and which makes the linear motor 15 accelerated up to a maximum speed in the acceleration section from the upper dead point to the punching point; and a female mold 30 in which a workpiece 40 is installed and which is provided so that the head unit 25 can abut on the punching mold 25f at the punching point making the head unit 25 reach the maximum speed.
