<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of growing plants that can enhance the efficiency of growing plants. <P>SOLUTION: The method of growing plants grows plants by applying light from a light source to plants. The method of growing plants includes an application process (S12) and a switching process (S14). In the application process, light of strong directivity is applied to the plants. In the switching process, the degree of growth of the plants is determined and based on the degree of growth of the plants, the light of strong directivity is switched to the light of weak directivity.
