SPEED GOVERNOR FOR ELEVATOR

Provided is a speed governor which is for an elevator and which, by means of a simple structure, prevents drops in reliability due to the abrasion of components and the occurrence of vibrations and noises, and which enables a rotation-direction-dependent excess-speed detection mechanism. The speed governor is provided with: a sheave which alters the rotation speed in one direction according to the rate of ascent of a body which is being raised and lowered, and alters the rotation speed in the other direction according the rate of descent of the body which is being raised and lowered; a flyweight which increases and reduces the movement amount of said flyweight toward the outer-side in the radial direction of the sheave, in accordance with an increase or decrease in the rotation speed of the sheave; a detector which carries out an excess-speed detection on the sheave when the flyweight has moved only a prescribed amount to the outer-side in the radial direction; a stopper which prevents the flyweight from moving more than a prescribed amount toward the outer-side in the radial direction when the sheave rotates in a prescribed direction; a rotation position detection means which detects the rotation position of the sheave; an object detection means which detects the stopper when the stopper has come close; and a determination means which determines the position of the stopper relative to the sheave, on the basis of the rotation position of the sheave at the point when the stopper is detected by the object detection means.
