According to one embodiment, an inkjet recording apparatus includes a holding roller, a holding device, an image forming device, a reversing device, and a controller. The holding roller holds a recording medium. The holding device presses the recording medium and holds the recording medium on the surface of the holding roller. The controller performs control to press the recording medium against the holding roller with first pressing force if the image forming device forms an image on a first surface of the recording medium and press the recording medium against the holding roller with second pressing force smaller than the first pressing force if the image forming device forms an image on a second surface of the recording medium after the image is formed on the first surface of the recording medium and the recording medium is reversed by the reversing device. |
