The switch (2) i.e. power switch, has an electronic trip unit triggering a separation of contact elements when exceeding a predetermined current threshold value. Adjustment elements (3-5) comprise respective adjustment positions, which are selected from outside by an operator. The selected positions are queried by a microcontroller, so that the current threshold value is derived from the adjustment positions. The adjustment positions correspond to variable adjustment values, which are adjustable by the operator using a display (6a) that displays the adjusted adjustment values.
