<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system capable of performing communication between the inside and the outside of a transponder as needed without using an electric connector. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission device 10, constituting an optical transmission system, includes one or a plurality of infrared ray communication means for performing communication between the inside and the outside of the device 10.
