PURPOSE: An efficient area change method in a wideband wireless access system and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce delay time by receiving system information of the changed area. CONSTITUTION: A terminal performs normal communication after network re-entry to an LZone of a target ABS(Advanced Base Station)(S306). The target base station transmits an RNG-RSP(Ranging-Response) message to the terminal(S307). The terminal synchronizes AZone of the target base station without receiving an SFH(Super Frame Header) of MZone(S308). The terminal transmits an AAI_RNG-REQ message to the MZone(S309). The terminal performs normal communication with the target ABS(S311).
