PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device and a display control method capable of improving an operability for an operator even if a display section of a minimum size alone is provided.

SOLUTION: A teaching pendant 10 includes a liquid crystal display 14 that displays an image. A control unit 30 allows the liquid crystal display 14 to display respective buttons for use in an execution of respective functions of a robot 70. The control unit 30 defines a button to which an explanation display is required as a main button out of the buttons, selects a sub button related to the main button, and displays the explanation of the main button and the sub button on a part where the main button and the sub button are not displayed in the liquid crystal display 14.
