The novel title cpds. are of formula (in which R is branched chain alkyl selected from 3,7-dimethyloctyl, 4,8-dimethyldecyl, 4-methyldecyl, 3,7,11-trimethyldodecyl, 4-ethyl-8-methyldecyl, 4-ethyl-8-methylnonyl and 3,7-dimethylnonyl). They are useful for producing abnormally large larvae of useful insects, e.g. silkworms and meal-worms. |
