Durable cold coffee or tea beverage is made by emptying the liquid prepd. by brewing ground roasted coffee, soluble powdered coffee or tea, directly after brewing, at >=75 degrees C. into a container which is then hermetically sealed, followed by cooling the beverage in the sealed container. Beverage has pleasant taste and aroma, is sterile, and can be prepd. on a commercial scale.
