Method of transferring a metal coil

The method involves sectionally supporting a steel tape bundle (4) by carrier rollers (11-15) during transfer on a transfer path and simultaneously unwinding the steel tape bundle. An unwinding recess (32) is formed by changing position of the adjacent carrier rollers, where the recess extends in a direction of the transfer path. Two of the rollers are arranged on a frame part (29) and driven by a drive unit with same speed, where the frame part is hinged to another frame part (30). The bundle is supported by a supporting roller (10) in an unwinding position.
