A solid-state image pickup device (100) of the present invention is provided with: a plurality of A-D conversion units (140), each of which is provided for each column, and converts pixel signals (151) into N bit digital data (154), said pixel signals having been converted by a plurality of unit pixels (111) disposed in a corresponding column; and a plurality of data storage units (141), each of which is provided for each column. Each of the data storage units (141) includes N number of flip-flops (145). The solid-state image pickup device (100) is also provided with data switching units (142a, 142b), which perform switching between a first state wherein the digital data (154) that has been converted by the A-D conversion units (140) is stored in the data storage units (141) of the corresponding columns, and a second state wherein the N number of flip-flops (145) included in the data storage units (141), respectively, are connected in series. |
