<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride sintered body which has high thermal shock resistance, and a method for manufacturing the same, a member for a molten metal, a member for hot working, and a member for digging. <P>SOLUTION: The silicon nitride sintered body comprises β-sialon expressed by a composition formula of Si<SB POS="POST">6-Z</SB>Al<SB POS="POST">Z</SB>O<SB POS="POST">Z</SB>N<SB POS="POST">8-Z</SB>, wherein z value being the solid solution amount is 0.4 to 0.7, as a main phase, a grain boundary phase, and Fe silicide particles. The grain boundary phase contains Y-Al-Si-O, and component ratios of Al, Si and Y in terms of Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, Y<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, respectively are 14 to 42 mass% of Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 8 to 19 mass% of SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, and the balanced amount of Y<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, the grain boundary phase is contained in a range of at most 15 vol.% based on 100 vol.% of the sintered body, and the Fe silicide particles are contained in 0.1 to 1.5 mass% in terms of Fe based on 100 mass% of the sintered body. The silicon nitride sintered body, since it has high thermal shock resistance, is suitably applied for applications such as a member for a molten metal, a member for hot working, and a member for digging. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
