DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SELF-CENTERING PROXIMAL END OF STENT GRAFT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a delivery system and method for self-centering a proximal end of a stent graft.

SOLUTION: The delivery system includes: a distal end and a guidewire catheter; an apex release catheter slidably disposed about the guidewire catheter, and an apex capture device. The apex capture device includes a distal capture portion fixedly connected to the distal end of the guidewire catheter and a proximal capture portion fixedly connected to the distal end of the apex release catheter and having fingers extending toward the distal capture portion in a distal direction. The both captured portions are formed so as to hold proximal apices therebetween, and together, define a stent captured state in which the proximal apices of a proximal stopper and a stent are received in an interior cavity. Thereby, the proximal apices are captured and a support bar is extended from between the fingers of the proximal capture portion in a radial direction and the interior cavity along the longitudinal axis is approximately closed off by the distal capture portion.
