The system has an audio source i.e. compact disk player, for outputting an audio signal, and another audio source for outputting another audio signal. An audio compressor compresses the audio signals, and a processor device is coupled with the audio sources and the compressor. The latter audio signal is compressed according to an audio source change from the former source to the latter source by the compressor based on an audio compressor threshold value (SW). An average level of the former signal is determined, and the threshold value is determined during audio source change. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing audio source change.
