<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust nozzle which provides the independent control of the throat area and the expansion ratio using a simple and robust structure. <P>SOLUTION: A nozzle 30 for a gas turbine engine includes: a center body 32 including a throat section of increased diameter relative to the remainder of the center body; an inner shroud 34 surrounding the center body, the inner shroud having an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surface including a middle section of decreased diameter relative to the remainder of the inner surface, the inner shroud being selectively movable along the longitudinal axis in forward and aft directions relative to the center body; an outer shroud 36 surrounding the inner shroud 34, the outer shroud being movable in forward and aft directions relative to the center body 32; and means for independently selectively moving the inner and outer shrouds 34 and 36 in forward and aft directions relative to the center body 32. The center body 32, the inner surface of the inner shroud 34, and the inner surface of the outer shroud 36 collectively define a fluid flow path through the nozzle 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
