<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate personal differences in tuyere blocking work and operation, improve efficiency of work time, and reduce a work burden. <P>SOLUTION: A tool 11 is used for blocking a horizontal hole 3a part on the tuyere 2 side beyond a vertical hole 3b in a tuyere stock 3 or a hole 4a part of a blow pipe 4 in a blast furnace blasting stopping time. A plate 12, which is smaller than the horizontal hole 3a of the jet stock 3 and the hole 4a of the blow pipe 4 and has a similar figure, is fixed at the end of a support rod 13, while a handle 14 to be hung to a furnace outside end part 3c of the jet stock 3 is attached in the base end part of the support rod 13. A plurality of projections 15 are arranged on the support rod 13 fixing side of the plate 12. Separate setting of the shielding tool and coal waste is not necessary, and coal waste can be comparatively easily broken to be removed with no difficulty.
