摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrochemical elements which is high in density and has excellent nonaqueous electrolyte permeability and a lithium ion secondary battery incorporating the electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode for electrochemical elements includes an electrode mixture layer containing an active material on one or both sides of a collector, and uses as the active material a lithium containing complex oxide which contains Ni, Co, and Mn or Al and has a specific particle size distribution. The electrode mixture layer has two peak tops in its pore distribution curve, where the peak top of a peak (a) on small bore diameter side lies in the range of pore sizes from 140 to 220 nm while the peak top of a peak (b) on large bore diameter side lies in the range of pore sizes from 330 to 910 nm, and the pore volume a (ml/g) of the peak top of the peak (a) and the pore volume b (ml/g) of the peak top of the peak (b) satisfy the relationship 0.26&le;a/(a+b)&le;0.53.
