The switch has a base that is provided with a substructure partially surrounding the superstructure (2), a control element (3), and a sensor element (4) and switching unit (5). The control and sensor elements are provided corresponding to superstructure and substructure respectively. The switching unit is enabled by switching signals that are encoded under switching conditions. The operating elements and corresponding mutually non-contacted sensor elements are interacted directly. All the sensor elements are arranged on a common sensor element carrier (6).
