<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress breakage of an M-type retainer for a needle roller bearing, even if the retainer is elliptically deformed or a twisting force is applied to the retainer. <P>SOLUTION: A roller bearing 19 containing a retainer 11 is made of a cylinder equipped with a plurality of pockets 13 which house a needle roller 20 in circumferential direction with a pillar part 12 in between. The cylinder has an M-shaped cross section which includes a flange part 15 bent toward the inner diameter side at both ends of an outer diameter cylinder part 14, and a recessed part that recesses in a V-shape toward the inner diameter side at the central position in axial direction. The recessed part includes an inclination part which recesses to the inner diameter side, and a bottom part that is provided at the end part on the inner diameter side of the inclination part, being parallel to the outer diameter cylinder part 14.
