A lens (10) is an optical element formed by compression molding molten glass using an upper die and a lower die. The lens (10) comprises a first molded portion (11) that is cylindrically formed and in which the circumference of an inner surface (11S) gradually becomes shorter facing from a first edge portion (11A) to a second edge portion (11B), a second molded portion (12) having an extended portion (surface 16) that faces outward from the first edge portion (11A) and extends in a direction distal from the second edge portion (11B), and a third molded portion (13) having a portion (surface 13A) that is connected to the second edge portion (11B) of the first molded portion (11) and convexly formed in a direction proximal to the first edge portion (11A). Sticking of the lens (10) to the molding die upon release can be inhibited.
