摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for performing image display in accordance with ambient brightness, and provide a liquid crystal display device capable of image display in either a reflection mode with external light used as an illumination light source or a transmission mode with a backlight. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection region for performing display by reflection of light that enters via a liquid crystal layer and a transmission region for performing display by transmission of light from a backlight are provided, and switching between the reflection mode and the transmission mode is performed. For the display of full-color images, a pixel portion includes at least a first region and a second region, plural light rays with different hues are sequentially supplied to the first region according to a first rotation schedule and plural light rays with different hues are also sequentially supplied to the second region according to a second rotation schedule different from the first rotation schedule.
