1481321 Sausage processing VISKASE Ltd 13 May 1975 [16 May 1974] 21771/74 Heading A2B Sausage-processing apparatus comprises endless conveyor means for transporting a string of sausage through a processing chamber, a plurality of pairs of formers attached to the conveyor and spaced therealong, the formers of each pair being movable, transversely to the direction of motion of the conveyor, from a first spaced apart position to a second position in which they close to form a small constriction, means for moving the formers from the first position to the second before entry into the processing chamber and means for moving the formers from the second position back to the first after leaving the processing chamber, the arrangement being such that the constrictions formed by adjacent pairs of formers form the end portions of one sausage in the string. The conveyor means may comprise a slatted chain wherein the formers are equispaced along the chain. The formers may be activated by cams forming tracks with which cam followers attached to the formers are in engagement. |
