PURPOSE: A washing machine is provided to reduce noise by reducing vibration and prevent dust by a suspension. CONSTITUTION: A suspension includes a fluid damper unit(36) and a friction damper unit(53). The fluid damper unit includes a shaft(24) and functional fluid. The shaft reciprocates in a cylinder(22) by vibration of the water tank. Viscosity of the functional fluid changes in the cylinder by applying electrical energy. The viscosity of the functional fluid resists against a reciprocating motion of the shaft. The friction damper unit resists against the reciprocating motion of the shaft by a frictional force.
