PURPOSE: A structure for a bicycle lane or sidewalk and a construction method thereof are provided to improve the exterior of a bridge by reducing unnecessary materials. CONSTITUTION: A structure for a bicycle lane or sidewalk comprises a lower part(100) and an upper part(200). The lower part is composed of a base, filler, brackets, anchor plates, and connection members. The base is coupled to both ends of coping units(21) of existing piers(20). The spaces between the base and one end of the coping units are filled with the filler. The brackets are coupled to the outer surface of the base. The anchor plates are coupled to both sides of the base. The connection members are anchored to the anchor plates. The upper part is composed of an I-girder, a cross member, an auxiliary cross member, an auxiliary girder, a pavement plate, and handrails. The I-girder is coupled to the top of the brackets. The auxiliary girder is formed in a shape corresponding to the shape of the I-girder. The handrails are installed in one side of the top of the auxiliary girder.
