LIGHTING DEVICE AND LIGHTING FIXTURE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device and a lighting fixture using the same capable of suppressing an excessive stress from being applied to a circuit component while improving power efficiency.

SOLUTION: An inverter circuit 2 converts a DC voltage of a DC power supply E1 into a high-frequency voltage by switching it with a switching element Q1 or Q2 and outputs the high-frequency voltage to a resonance circuit 3 and a load circuit 4. A discharge lamp La1 that constitutes the load circuit 4 is connected to an output end of the resonance circuit 3. A drive circuit 6 alternately turns on/off the switching elements Q1 and Q2 based on a control signal S1 input from an oscillation control circuit 5. The switching elements Q1 and Q2 are composed of a bidirectional switching element that is formed of a GaN-based semiconductor and has two gates. The drive circuit 6 starts power feeding to a gate g2 on a high-pressure side provided in one switching element Q2 or Q1 before stopping power feeding to a gate g1 on a low-pressure side provided in the other switching element Q1 or Q2.
