<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ladle refining apparatus for molten steel, which performs arc heating between electrodes immersed in the slag 21 via a slag, and in which damage of a water-cooled furnace cover is prevented and material unit of a sub-material added to a ladle can be reduced, and a ladle refining method. <P>SOLUTION: The ladle refining apparatus for molten steel has a plurality of metal protrusions 7 projecting from a metal member of the water-cooled furnace cover 4 toward the interior of a furnace and/or at least one metal protrusion 7 projecting from a triangular area (center located area 15) of the furnace cover toward the interior of the furnace, wherein the triangular area is formed by connecting centers of the three electrodes, and the tip of the metal protrusion 7 at the furnace interior side is exposed to the interior of the furnace. Since arc can be formed between the electrodes and the metal protrusion, even when open arc is generated, breaking of the furnace cover can be prevented and slag thickness can be reduced, thereby reducing the material consumption unit of the sub-material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
