PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-density information multiplex transmission.

SOLUTION: Transporting light propagates in a transmission path 1. A control light generator 2a of an optical multiplexing device 2 generates control light obtained by modulating the light whose intensity is modulated, by a data signal. A multiplexer 2b multiplexes the control light to the transporting light for modulating the transporting light by the control light in a nonlinear optical medium 1a in the transmission path 1. The transporting light propagating in the transmission path 1 is modulated based on the control light in the nonlinear optical medium 1a.
