<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve flexibility and fullness of route guides. <P>SOLUTION: A guide information generation apparatus includes a coordinate information receiving means, a specification receiving means, an attribute information receiving means, and a guide information generation means. The coordinate information receiving means receives a plurality of pieces of coordinate information including longitude and latitude from a user in a mode capable of specifying the order of coordinate information. The specification receiving means receives specification of a point or a section on a route which is determined based on the plurality of pieces of coordinate information and the order of the coordinate information from the user. The attribute information receiving means receives attribute information related to the point or the section on the route from the user.
