A press belt (2) has a difference in levels formed between the external peripheral surfaces of both end part correspondence regions (B) which are positioned in correspondence with both end parts of either a press roll (1) or a pressure shoe (3) in the width direction thereof, and the external peripheral surface of the center region (A), such that the thicknesses of both end part correspondence regions are smaller than the thickness of the center region. The external peripheral surfaces of both end part correspondence regions (B) are worked to a finish such that the depth of machining damage is 10µm or less.
