PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement fast rerouting in a communication apparatus at the occurrence of a network failure or congestion.

SOLUTION: The communication apparatus includes: a processing storage section for storing processing rules associating identification information about received packets with processing for the received packets; an alternative processing storage section for storing processing rules including processing different from the processing stored in the processing storage section for the received packets; and a processing section for processing a received packet according to the processing rule retrieved from the processing storage section or the alternative processing storage section on the basis of the identification information about the received packet.
