<p>A method for controlling a refining zone and to measure process variables directly in the refining zones of refiners in the pulp and paper industry is provided, the difference between the distributed axial force and the distributed steam force for high consistency refiners, or alternatively the liquid and pulp phase related forces for low consistency refiners, along the radius of the segments within the refiner is used to prevent fiber cutting and plate clash of the segments. The method of the present invention is also applicable to continuous control of the refining process close to limits of the machinery involved.</p> |
