<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine particle of core-shell structure, which reduces the usage of platinum while increasing catalyst activity, and to provide a functional device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The fine particle of core-shell structure includes: a core particle which is formed from ruthenium and has the face-centered cubic crystal structure; and a shell layer which is formed from platinum, has the face-centered cubic crystal structure and formed on the surface of the core particle. The fine particle of core-shell structure contains particles which are multiply twinned fine particles and are surrounded by the ä111} crystal plane. The core particle, more preferably, has an average diameter of 0.8-3.5 nm, and the thickness of the shell layer is controlled between 0.2-1 nm. The fine particle of core-shell structure is utilized for a catalyst particle of a catalyst electrode layer constituting a fuel cell, for example. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
