A coin selector (2) and a coin return device (3) from a solid unit for use in automatic vending machines and slot machines. The selector (2) adequately controls and distributes each one of the coins of a specific type or value towards a respective cylindrical container (8), (9) and (10) and thus controls the number of coins in each cylindrical container without the need for any coin controls being incorporated in the cylindrical containers. The excess coins of these cylindric containers (8), (9) and (10) and those whose type or value does not coincide with the coins to be accumulated therein are sent to the moneybox (6) under the control of the selector. The cylindrical containers and the money box are sealed off by strips (5) connected to the centres of bobbins which are activated by the selector to move the strips when a coin is to pass to that container or money box. Rejected coins pass through duct (7). <IMAGE>
