<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element, a display device, and an illumination apparatus that have high luminous efficiency, high thermal stability and long life, while using anthracene. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL element includes a light-emitting organic layer comprising a mixture of a host material and a guest material between an positive electrode and a negative electrode.
