<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce anhydrous trehalose useful as a dehydrating agent for foods or medicines by a method which can be carried out at room temperature with saved energy and a small environmental load using simple equipment. <P>SOLUTION: Trehalose dihydrate is dissolved in methanol at a temperature of ≤40°C, preferably at room temperature, and the resultant solution is allowed to stand at the room temperature to deposit anhydrous trehalose crystals. The deposited crystals are then separated from the solution, and the resultant anhydrous trehalose is vacuum dried to remove the residual methanol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
