PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination unit made to emit light without light volume unevenness by widely diffusing a light irradiation range at a front face of a columnar light-emitting member for letting irradiation light from a single LED incident from an end part.

SOLUTION: The illumination unit is provided with an incident region 11 for receiving irradiation light from the LED 20 at one end in an axis direction, and a curved-surface irradiation region 12 on one side face as well as a curved-surface inner reflection face 15 on the other side face opposed to the irradiation region 12. The incident region 11 includes: a convex incident region 13 arranged in opposition to and separated from the LED 20, having a tiptop part of nearly a curved-surface conical shape, and making irradiation light from the LED incident into the light guide body; and an incident side wall 14 set in protrusion so as to surround its outer diameter side and equipped with a light-transmitting face on an inner periphery. The inner reflection face 15 is structured to be tapered off in a curved-surface shape so that a distance from the irradiation region 12 is to be gradually decreased toward the other end in an axis direction.
