The pressure sensor (1) has sensing elements (3,4) that are provided on an elastic membrane (2) which is partially contacted with a medium whose pressure is to be measured. The pressure of the medium is detected by the sensing elements. Two independent measuring units are arranged in opposing surface of the medium contacting the elastic membrane for generating a measurement signal corresponding to detected pressure of the medium. An independent claim is included for pressure detection method.
