<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which film grain is also expanded in upconversion. <P>SOLUTION: An up converter 5 upconverts a frame image in a video signal. A film grain detection circuit 6 detects the film grain of the video signal, and a frequency converter 7 converts the spacial frequency of the film grain into a high range. In the frame image generated like this, the film grain is distributed with the same resolution as the resolution (1920 pixels H×1080 lines W) of the converted frame image, each film grain having properties simulating the properties of film grain (peak value, appearance frequency, frequency) included in the video signal before conversion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
