<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the elution of copper and zinc of copper alloy piping equipment such as valves and pipe fittings that directly uses a copper alloy such as bronze or brass for piping equipment, which is excellent in castability, machinability, and also economical efficiency, and which provides high antibacterial actions which are hardly exhibited by other materials, and that also suppresses the elution of copper and zinc from the copper alloy piping equipment, to provide copper alloy piping equipment made using the method, and also to provide a film forming agent. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes forming a film in at least a wetted part of copper alloy piping equipment such as valves and pipe fittings using an organic substance comprising an unsaturated fatty acid to cover both the copper and zinc of the surface layer of the wetted part of the piping equipment so as to suppress the elution of them.
