Injectable solns. contain thioctate salts of trometamol (I) and/or basic amino acids (II), where the molar ratio of thioctic acid (III) to (I) and (II) is 1:1.1-3.2 and 1:1.1-3 respectively. (I) is 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl -1,3-propanediol. (III) is 1,2-dithiacyclopentane-3-valeric acid, also known as alpha-liponic acid.
