The method involves connecting an electric machine (40) with an input of shift gears (20, 22) by a coupling device, and synchronizing rotation speeds of synchronous clutches (21) of a target gear stage during changing of a gear. Synchronization moments are applied by the electric machine and the clutches in a time overlapping manner during synchronization of the rotation speeds of the clutches. The electric machine is decoupled from the input of the shift gears before applying the moment by the clutches. An independent claim is also included for a power train for a motor car.
