<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus allowing accurate detection of a toner image position for image position detection even when a sensor for both functions that are density detection means and image position detection means is used. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises positive reflection type toner image detection means for detecting both a toner image for image density detection and a toner image for image position detection, which are formed on a medium to be detected using a black toner and at least one color toner; comparison means for comparing an output value of the toner image detection means with a predetermined threshold; position detection means for detecting a toner image position for the image position detection on the basis of a comparison result of the comparing means; and change means for changing a threshold level of the comparing means or an output value level of the toner image detection means at least between the black toner and the color toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
