摘要 PURPOSE: A rotary damper using intelligent fluid is provided to adjust a damping force by using magnetorheological fluid or electrorheological fluid and generate the large damping force by using a small power dissipation and size. CONSTITUTION: A rotary damper using intelligent fluid comprises a stator(100), a rotary shaft(200), a rotor(300), a pair of supporters(400a,400b), a control unit(500), and a relief valve(600). The stator comprises a hollow unit having a circular cross section in the inner side. The rotary shaft is arranged in perpendicular to the circular cross section. The rotary shaft receives the impact or vibration of the damping, thereby rotating. The rotor is formed in a hook shape and joined to the outer peripheral, thereby being located in the inner side of the hollow. The rotor comprises a filling flow path(310), a pair of a partition member(320). The filling flow path is formed in the inner circumference of the hollow, the magnetorheological fluid(MR) is filled. The partition member is closely adhered to the inner circumference of the hollow, thereby partitioning the filling flow path. A pair of the supporters is closely adhered to the outer circumference of the rotor and formed in the inner circumference of the hollow, thereby partitioning the filling flow path and supporting the rotor. The control unit made of electromagnets is formed in a joint part(420). The control unit controls the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid passing through the joint part via a connecting flow path(410a), thereby controlling the damping force of the device. The relief valve is installed in the connection hole(321) of the partition member. The relief valve selectively opens the through hole in case that the pressure is applied over a constant value.
