PAVEMENT MARKING RECOGNITON SYSTEM AND METHOD

PURPOSE: A road sign recognizing system and a method thereof are provided to distinguish the type of a road on which a vehicle drives and supply a proper guide to a driver. CONSTITUTION: A road sign candidate area detecting unit(S210) detects a road sign candidate area from an image for photographing a road. A histogram generating unit(S230) obtains a horizontal histogram and a vertical histogram for the road sign candidate area. A feature vector generating unit(S250) obtains a feature vector of the road signal candidate area using the horizontal histogram and the vertical histogram. A road sign type determining unit(S270) determines the type of the road sign candidate area using the feature vector.
