<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breakage preventive structure of a rack end stopper capable of preventing any contact of a shock-absorbing material with an edge on a housing side with a simple structure, and consistently demonstrating the load-deflection characteristics at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The breakage preventive structure of the rack end stopper includes a rack end 2 fixed to an end of a rack shaft 1, a housing 4 having a storage recess 42 for storing the rack end 2 in an end of a guide hole 41, and a shock-absorbing material 5 for mitigating the impact during the collision of the rack end 2 with the storage recess 42. An annular recessed groove 22 is formed in a face opposite to a bottom surface 42b of the storage recess 42 in the rack end 2 so as to surround the circumference of the rack shaft 1. The shock-absorbing material 5 is mounted in the recessed groove 22. In the shock-absorbing material 5, the abutting surface side on the bottom surface 42b is projected to the bottom surface 42b side from the surface of the rack end 2. The inside diameter of the abutting surface on the bottom surface 42b is larger than the diameter of an edge 41a of the guide hole 41 of the housing 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
