摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate optimal for a transflective liquid crystal display device which can provide a brighter transflective liquid crystal display device, and to provide a transflective liquid crystal display device having such a substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The substrate for a transflective liquid crystal display device comprises a black matrix 19 formed on a transparent substrate, a cell gap adjusting layer 5', a transparent conductive film 3 formed to cover the black matrix and the cell gap adjusting layer, and a transparent resin layer 4 formed on the transparent conductive film and having a recess 23 above the black matrix and a projection 24 above the cell gap adjusting layer. A plurality of rectangular pixels are constituted by a transmissive portion T and a reflective portion R in this order from close to the center and symmetric about the cell gap adjusting layer.
