PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor that can suppress attraction between movable elements having magnets.

SOLUTION: A linear motor 3 comprises: a stator 9 having a plurality of coils 17 that are arranged along a path 13; and a plurality of movable elements 11 which can move independently from each other to the stator 9 along the path 13 and which cannot overtake each other. The movable elements 11 respectively have a plurality of magnets 21 disposed in the direction along the path 13 while alternately reversing the directions of the magnetic poles. Then the movable elements 11 have the magnets 21 so that the adjacent magnets 21 between the adjacent movable elements 11 have the identical directions of the magnetic poles.
