<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid upsizing of a motor, an increase in power consumption and an increase in cost of a document feeding device, and also, to detect whether a pickup roller is located in a retreat position in the document feeding device. <P>SOLUTION: In the document feeding device 100, a sensor 260 is configured to detect the presence or the absence of the document on a paper feed tray 14. Besides, when a prescribed omission pattern is detected in the detection output of the sensor 260 during the non-feed period of the document feeding device 100 (in the state in which the pickup roller 104 should be located in the retreat position), it is determined that the pickup roller 104 is shifted from the retreat position, and then, a process (step S16) to locate the pickup roller 104 in the retreat position again is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
