<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated teller machine capable of returning a card to a user by a simple structure and control; and to provide a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An automated teller machine 3 includes: stopping means 3111, after controlling a conveyance mechanism to discharge a medium 8 to an insertion slot 203, when determining that a prescribed time elapses, with the medium 8 retained in the insertion slot 203, controlling to stop a transaction process; safekeeping control means 3131, when the transaction process is stopped by the stopping means 3111, controlling the conveyance mechanism to safekeep the medium 8 in a safekeeping section; storage means 39 storing information on a state where the medium is retained in the insertion slot 203; and starting means 3112 starting the transaction process after the information stored in the storage means 39 is transmitted to a sever via a network. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
